The wax paper is approved for direct contact with foodstuff according to Regulation (EC) No 1935/2004 of the European Parliament and of the Council, of 27 October 2004, on materials and articles intended to come into contact with food. Commission Regulation (EC) No 2023/2006, of 22 December 2006, on good manufacturing practice for materials and articles intended to come into contact with food.
FDA CFR 21, 176.170 “Components of paper and paperboard in contact with aqueous and fatty foods” and 176.180 “Components of paper and paperboard in contact with dry food”, 1.4.2011. We have recommended that the wax paper is used for food contact with dry, moist and fatty foodstuffs at or below room temperature for up to 72 hours. That means that freezing is allowed.
